Kay Francis Wallace, born on August 20th, 1949, in New Orleans, Louisiana, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on April 3rd, 2024. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Jack and Mary Catherine Horridge Wallace, as well as her siblings Ruby Thames, Patricia Wallace, Mary Wallace, Adelaide Peterson, Arthur Wallace and Gerard C. Wallace, and brother-in-law AJ Esteve. She is survived by her devoted sister, Elizabeth “Cookie” Esteve.
Though Kay did not have children of her own, she played a loving and nurturing role in the lives of many. She raised Jack Teagarden, Peggy Harris, Theresa Kramer, and Patricia Mallet as her own. Her caring spirit extended to her nieces and nephews, Brad Esteve, Bubby Esteve Jr., Kathyleen Esteve, Ernest Thibodeaux, Catherine Summers and great-nephew Timothy Stinson Jr. Kay is also survived by numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Kay's dedication to her family and community exemplified her kind and generous nature. Her selflessness and acts of kindness were renowned, as she consistently went out of her way to assist others, often tending to the sick and dying. A devout Catholic, Kay firmly believed in the miracles of Our Lady of Lourdes. In her leisure time, she found solace in fishing and praying the rosary.
Kay Francis Wallace will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
A funeral mass to honor and celebrate Kay’s life will be held on Friday, April 12th, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Greenwood Funeral Home on Canal Boulevard in New Orleans, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
