Dorothy Baumy Mentel passed away peacefully at the age of 50, on Saturday, August 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Beloved wife of Michael “Mike” Jude Mentel. Loving mother of Matthew Richard (Rachel), Melanie Richard and Kelly Mentel. Adoring grandmother of Logan Marino and Reese Richard. Preceded by grandmother Elise Ducote Wimberly. Survived by mother Estelle Bourgeois (Tommy), father Robert Baumey Sr (Tina) and brothers Robert Baumy Jr. and Paul Baumy (Sandy). Step-sister to Ashley Dufrene (Brian) and Jason Bourgeois. Half-sister to Chris Baumy and Craig Baumy. Sister-in-law to Patricia Norman (Tommy), Linda Taylor (Hollis) and Lisa Lagness. Also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. An employee of Laitram Corporation for the past 24 years. Dorothy’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all. The family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to her team of Doctors at East Jefferson as well as the staff on 6 South, Yenni Infusion Center and AmeraCare.
