Diana Mercadal Friedel

Diana Mercadal Friedel passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, at the golden age of 92.

Diana is survived by her son, Mitchell and wife Denise and their daughters Brittani and Bethani, son Trent and wife Laura and their children Jessica Spear (husband Logan), Garrison Friedel, and Jeremy Friedel (wife Hannah). She is also survived by her sister Darlyn Ramirez, her daughter Nicole, and brother, Glenn along with his wife Kim and their children Joshua and Amanda.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Friedel, Jr., her brother, Ronald J. Mercadal and her parents Roger L. and Ellamae M. Mercadal.

Diana was born on December 27, 1931, in New Orleans, La. She graduated from Mercy Academy of New Orleans. She went on to marry John Friedel, Jr. and raised two sons. She loved to travel and was able to do so most of her life. Diana was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Parish. Over her life, she attempted to participate in every club she could find. She was a member of the Garden Club, Rosary Group, Homemakers, The Lunch Bunch, Coffee Group, and a daily mass group. She even managed to somehow be a part of not one, but two bridge groups. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was loved by everyone who knew her.

A funeral service will be held for Diana Friedel on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Greenwood Funeral Home at 5200 Canal Boulevard, New Orleans, La. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. This will be followed by mass at 11:00. Interment will be at Hope Mausoleum on Canal Street.
