Brian James Reel

June 9, 1933 ~ April 17, 2024 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Tribute

Brian James Reel of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. He was born on June 9, 1933, to Sidney and Agnes Reel in New Orleans, Louisiana. Brian was the beloved husband of Linda Perdue Reel whom he was married to for 48 years. Brian leaves behind his wife Linda and his children; Craig Reel, Holly Cespiva and her husband Scott, and Brian W. Reel and his wife Christina. Brian is also survived by his four loving grandchildren: Craig Reel Jr., Tyler and Kate Cespiva and Mason Reel.

Brian graduated from Holy Cross High School and Loyola University of New Orleans. He served as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army from 1955-1957. Upon discharge, Brian worked for Freeport Sulphur Company and AAA Louisiana Division. Brian also worked at Dillard’s Lakeside and Ferrara’s Big and Tall.

As a young man, Brian was active in his college and community social organizations. While at Loyola, Brian was named Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities and was President of Pi Kappa Epsilon. Brian was a member of the New Orleans Jaycees, where he was named Outstanding Jaycee of the Year in 1961, and the Young Men’s Business Club in New Orleans and Jefferson Parish.

A lover of dancing, fishing, gardening and martinis, Brian’s smile and quick-witted personality would light up the room. But above all, the thing that he loved the most was his family. Whether it was a beach trip to Florida, a mountain trip to Tennessee or just a simple family get together, Brian loved having his wife, children and grandchildren with him.
