Bernice Mary Graff Gallagher departed this life on angel’s wings on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the age of 84. She was born in New Orleans (Irish Channel) and lived in Metairie for 35 years. Bernice was born to the late Louis and Gladys Rosech Graff. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Norman Thomas Gallagher Sr., loving daughter, Barbara Ann Gallagher Ryan, brothers, Lloyd Graff and Wilbert Graff and a sister Mercedes "Merce" Graff Albro. She is survived by her sisters’ Shirley Heigle, Gloria Alombro and Norma Smith. Norman and Bernice raised 3 children in the Irish Channel, Barbara Ryan (Norman) Norman Gallagher, Jr. and Patrick Gallagher (Kim). Bernice was an incredible woman whose smile lit up a room and melted the hearts of everyone who was lucky enough to have known her. She will be remembered and dearly missed by all who knew her. Her smile, laughter and kindness will never be forgotten. She was a strong, selfless and compassionate person with a giving heart. Bernice’s passions were her family, friends, cooking, watching the New Orleans Saints, LSU, dancing, Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, and taking care of everyone and everything. She was a member of the Out For Fun Club. Bernice had many friends while living at Metairie Manor. Proud Grandmother of Brandy Ryan, Chantel Gallagher Matthew (Michael), David Shelhorse, Stori Gallagher, Jill Gallagher, Norman T. Gallagher III, Connor Gallagher. Proud Great-Grandmother to Brianna, Sara, Brooklyn, Ella, and Knight.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM followed by a Mass in the Chapel at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA. .
